MALLEN, James Robert Died peacefully in hospital on March 10th at the age of 76. Loving and devoted husband of the late Denise Mallen (nee Thivierge d. 2014). Proud father of Lynn Grabner (Peter), Niki Mallen Roberts (Charlie d. 2011), Jimmy (Shannon), and Richard (d. 1991). Beloved grandfather of Christine (Renato), Andrew, Grace, Eve, James, Virginia, Marianne, Gail, and Cecilia. Son of the late Andrew and Edith (nee Simpson) Mallen and brother of Elizabeth (Wes) Tremblay and the late David (Bonnie) Mallen. Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Jim moved to Ottawa as a young man. He attended Carleton University and, after a short career as a teacher (Assumption) and principal (St. Thomas), he simultaneously worked in the federal government (retiring as Director General at HRDC) and owned and operated the Four Corner Inn outside of Osgoode, ON. In his time, Jim built three cottages and a home, travelled around the world, enjoyed gardening, woodworking, his RV, and, much to everyone's surprise, cooking elaborate Thai meals and baking bread. Friends and family are welcome to gather to remember Jim on Saturday, April 1st from 1:00-4:00pm at his son's house at 69 Parkland Crescent, Ottawa, ON (613) 983-4170.
