Aidan Barter

With heavy hearts, we announce that our beloved Aidan left us far too soon on Thursday, April 17th, 2025 at the age of 24.

Aidan will be remembered for his good heart, quiet strength, and compassion for others. His kindness was effortless and sincere—always comforting a friend or helping someone in need. Even in his darkest moments, he gave light to others.

Aidan had a deep love for music, often using it to express what words could not. It was through music that he found solace, connection, and moments of peace. His favorite songs were like windows into his soul—honest, emotional, and profoundly human.

He is survived by his mum Gillian (Shane), and dear grandparents Gregory and Muriel Barter. He leaves behind many beloved family members and friends, both near and far.  His absence also leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of his aunts Myriam and Jill, uncles Neil and Jay and his cousin Ryan; all of whom had a profound impact on Aidan’s life.

Though Aidan’s life was full of love and light, it was also marked by a long and painful struggle with addiction and mental health. He fought with incredible courage and resilience, and he never stopped trying to find his way forward. His journey was difficult, but it does not define him. His love, his generosity, and the moments of beauty he gave to others are his true legacy.

A celebration of Aidan’s life will take place on Sunday, April 27th at 4 p.m. at the Capital City Biker’s Church (155 Carillon St, Vanier, ON K1L 5X9). All are welcome to gather, share stories, and honor the life of someone who gave so much of himself, even when he had so little to spare.
