Aisling O’Driscoll passed away May 6th, peacefully, at home, with her sister Gillian, her dear friend Patti Stone and her dog Benji at her side.  Aisling was the devoted daughter of Prof. Denis O’Driscoll  and Loretto O’Driscoll, long-time residents of Kingston, now of Westmount Quebec, and the sister of John (Sylvie Fortin) of Montreal,  Niall (Helen MacIntyre) of Kingston, and Gillian (John Toth) of Westmount.  She was a loving aunt who passionately supported her nieces and nephews Brigitte, Denis, David, Olivia and Tara O’Driscoll and Katalina Toth. She was the dear friend of Michele McNeill of Ottawa and godmother of Emily McNeill. Aisling grew up in Kingston, where she attended Regiopolis-Notre Dame.  She graduated from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts and obtained her teaching degree from Queen’s University.  She taught elementary school at Our Lady of Lourdes in Elmvale and at Pope John Paul II in Barrie.  Aisling was a passionate and patient teacher who taught the Catholic faith with her actions and her instruction.  She was a talented athlete who was a member of the Smith College equestrian team, was elected President of Student Athletics at Smith, and became an avid golfer and passionate fan of all teams Toronto. Aisling was a warm, calm person with a hilarious, dry wit, a loyal and supportive friend, and a devout Catholic whose deep faith inspired others. She was a courageous warrior in an 11 year battle with advanced cancer, undergoing continuous treatments with positivity and humour, and expressing deep gratitude to the many people involved in her care. Aisling’s family would like to express their thanks to the Cancer Care Team at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie Ontario, and to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, as well as to the many people whose amazing and continuous acts of friendship enriched Aisling’s life so much. Visitation will be held Monday May 13, 7-9 pm at the Jennett Funeral Home, 152 Bradford St. Barrie and the Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday May 14th at St. Mary’s Church, 65 Amelia St. Barrie. Burial will take place at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery in June.
