Alan George Cockell

Alan was born September 27, 1936 in Vancouver, BC, and passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of June 6, 2024 in Ottawa, ON.   Predeceased by his loving wife of over 51 years - Stephanie (née Oakley).  Survived by their four children: Kevin (Carole), Patricia (Gabriel), Gordon (Saara), and Janet (Rod).  "Papa" dearly loved his eight granchildren: Elias (Zoe), Philip (Genevieve), Ryan (Brittany), Everett (Jeannine), Genevieve (Austin), Derian, Sam (El), Evelyn (Willow) and great grandaughter Kali.  Alan is also survived by his two sisters Jeanie (Joan) and Joan (Doug); siblings-in-law Sandra, Rick and Lyn; as well as many extended family members.

Alan was a Chartered Accountant by trade and worked for Revenue Canada for over twenty eight years.  He retired as an executive from the public service in 1989 and kept himself busy with volunteer work, gardening, reading, cycling, curling and travel (particularly by RV).  

The family will be holding private celebrations of Alan's life in Ottawa and Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, or an organization of their own choice.
