Alan Kenneth Johnston, born February 12th, 1934 in Brantford Ontario and died peacefully on December 2nd, 2023 at Langstaff Square Community Care in Richmond Hill, Ontario. He was 89.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Dorothy Joan Johnston, his sons Brad and Doug Johnston, and his sister Molly Jenkins. Al had three grandchildren - Amy, Sara and Peter and two great grandchildren - Max and Charlotte.
Al lived for over 40 years on a beautiful property just outside Stouffville, Ontario which he transformed from a farmers field into a sanctuary for birds and wildlife. He was an early supporter of the reintroduction of Trumpeter Swans into Ontario and hosted several pairs of swans on the sizable pond he created on the property.
He was a successful salesman for Mercedes Benz of Canada in North York, Ontario
Al and Joan loved to camp at Killbear Provincial Park, and traveled by air and cruise ship well into retirement. He loved to bicycle and could be seen riding along the concession roads near his house all through the year. He was an active man who loved to be outdoors and will be fondly remembered as he sat in front of the campfire with his coffee cup sipping a Scotch and Dambuie.
There will be no funeral service, In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation towards your local Alzheimer Society.
