It is with heavy hearts that we announced the passing of our mother, Alice Masaye (nee Omatsu) Mayede. She passed away peacefully at Burloak Long Term Care in Burlington on January 30, 2022 at the age 90. She was loving mother to Frances (Jackmen Chong), Floyd, Bob (Joanne) and Joe, and Grandma to Jay, Amanda, Drew, Nick and Matthew. She was predeceased by her husband, Fujio Mayede. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and those who cared for her at Burloak LTC.
Alice was born January 3, 1932 in Vancouver, BC. She had experienced life in an internment camp during the war and moved to Ontario in her twenties. Alice enjoyed bowling, karoke at the Japanese Canadian Culture Centre and treating us to fabulous New Year's Day dinners. She is fondly remembered by Jay, Amanda and Drew for visits to High Park in Toronto on the days she looked after them in the summer.
The family would like to extend their thanks for the loving and compassionate care of our mother to the staff and nurses at Burloak Long Term Care and also to the doctors and nurses at Joseph Brant Hospital during her stay in January. She was loved by all who got to know her.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
