Alicia Culek

Alicia Culek (nee Balaos) of Scarborough, Ontario passed away on April 27, 2021 in her 76th year at Kingston General Hospital just three weeks shy of her 50th wedding anniversary to her beloved husband Peter Culek. She is survived by her husband and daughters, Pauline Lariviere (Frank) of Scarborough and Kathryn Hookimawillene (Curtis) of Moosonee.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Olivia and Sebastian Lariviere and her sisters Mellie Eser and Maria Luz Balaos as well as countless nieces and nephews.  She came from the Philippines in 1969 and began practicing as a nurse.  She worked the majority of her career at Toronto General Hospital in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.  Here she met many good friends that were to become through the years, family.  She enjoyed travel and had seen so much of the world with her husband by her side.  She was always generous with her time and in retirement she dedicated a lot to Prince of Peace Parish, the Rosary Apostolate and Legion of Mary.  She volunteered her time delivering Communion to those unable to make it to church and worked in elementary schools preparing young children for the sacrament of Communion and teaching the rosary. Always ready to listen, help, and guide, she will be greatly missed by all.
