Born in Toronto on October 22nd, 1938, Lawson Allan Whitehead, passed away peacefully at home in Toronto on September 28th, 2016, with his wife Judy at his side. Loving husband of Judy Hodgson, beloved father of Melanie (Anthony Consales) and Erin (Matt Robinson). Survived by his brother Paul (Rebecca), several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Proud grandfather of Aiden, Kalen, and Nolan Consales and Bennett Robinson. Son of the late Grant and Jeanne Whitehead.
An avid sports fan, Allan spent many years as an active participant, referee, and instructor in sailing, skiing, football, curling and squash. In his later years, he became a quintessential spectator of all sports, especially football, baseball, golf, and Maple Leafs hockey. He was also an accomplished photographer, winning several awards and sharing his expertise and knowledge with others. His love of movies, which he developed as a child, was shared by his mother and his two daughters.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, October 19th, 2016 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the National Yacht Club, 1 Stadium Road, Toronto M5V 3H4 (416-260-8686) across from Billy Bishop airport). Cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank the professional staffs of St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto CCAC, and Dorothy Ley Hospice for the care and support provided.
Memorial donations in Allan’s name can be made to St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto or to a charity of your choice.
