Alphonse
When I was 5 years old, my father taught me how to ride a bike. Every day of that summer when the weather was nice, we went out together and he watched me ride my bike around the parking lot of our apartment building. It was Jesse’s old bike that I learned to ride on – with training wheels at first. As I got better, we removed the training wheels. He was always ready to go outside with me and watch me ride my bike. This is one of the great memories I have of my father. He was always there to watch me, to help me get better and to support me. I will always remember that.

Jesse
They say a father's love is all encompassing, that he cannot be happy unless the rest of his family is as well. This is the memory I have of my father. He wanted the best for us and nothing else. He was tough, but only because he felt he had to be, so we could be strong, independent, wholesome kids. He never had malicious intentions and thought only of others. He led by example. As his eldest child, I hope to honour, pay homage to his legacy, values and convictions.

Melissa
Every day, every minute, one thing I know for certain is that I miss him and that not having him here hurts - but I always remember my father with fondness, not bitterness, and never with regret. My father was kind, thoughtful, loving and devoted to his family. This love resonates through me now even as he has passed. I feel his presence everywhere, as if he is always right beside me. I hear him in the music on the radio and the songs he used to sing in the car, whether the lyrics were right or not. I remember him when I hear the piano, where he once taught me to play Fr&egravere Jacques, and in the whistling of the harmonica that he would play for us when we were kids. I see him in every person who is grieving today and I can see that his love has spread beyond his family and touched the hearts of too many people to count. Please remember my father with fondness.
