Anita Cooper

April 4, 1936 — April 21, 2021

Anita Cooper (1936-2021)

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and dear friend, Anita. Anita was born in South Wales and came to Canada while in her teens. She would soon meet and in 1957, marry her beloved husband Ken Cooper (predeceased). She will sadly be missed by her son Paul (Lisa) and her much cherished granddaughters, Kristina and Meaghan.

Prior to her retirement, Anita had worked for the Royal Bank and NTN Bearing in Mississauga. Anita lived most of her life in Streetsville and loved everything about this neighbourhood from the Credit River, to the friendly residents and quaint shops on Queen Street.

Anita had a passion for gardening, taking walks and thoroughbred horseracing, having owned numerous horses over the past decades and was a member of a number of fellow owner groups, often travelling to venues throughout North America. Her greatest passion in life was her granddaughters, spoiling them both from the day they were born. There was nothing that she wouldn’t do for her girls.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the many doctors, nurses and specialists at Trillium Health Partners who have tended to Anita over the past 2 months but a special thanks to Dr. Zheng for her exceptional care of Anita and for being so supportive and compassionate to us during this difficult time.

We would also like to thank Rita, Wioletta, Lily and the nursing staff at Bough Beeches for being so kind to Anita over the past 2 years. A special thanks to our family, friends, colleagues and neighbours for their support and kind words.

Anita will be cremated, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Ontario Lung Association or to the LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society, in remembrance of Anita.

Anita was a wonderful woman with a fantastic sense of humour. We take comfort in knowing that she is back at the side of her beloved husband Ken. She will be greatly missed by us all.
