Anna Budahazy

June 14, 1942 — June 4, 2018

Anna Budahazy passed away suddenly on June 4, 2018 at the age of 75 at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital surrounded by her loving children, Julia, Charles and Connie Budahazy.

Anna immigrated to Canada in 1964 after escaping communist Hungary on her honeymoon. She lived and worked in Vienna, Austria for a year while waiting for the immigration papers to be processed to come to Canada. She then moved to Edmonton via Montreal. Anna had studied chemistry after high school in Budapest, and first found work at the National Research Centre of Canada. She had many adventures travelling the country before starting a family and settling in Ontario. In the 1970's, as a young mother raising her three children, Anna worked tirelessly running a farm on her own in Perth County. Eventually the family moved to Mississauga, where Anna worked as a real estate agent helping hundreds of clients find homes until her retirement. If you wanted to know how to knit an Aran sweater, make the perfect Baked Alaska, propagate a rose, read music, calculate the monthly payment on a blended mortgage, drive a stick shift, saddle a horse or castrate a pig, Anna could show you how. There was practically nothing she couldn't do.

A long-time resident at Post Inn Village in Oakville, she was loved by her fellow residents and staff and she will be fondly remembered for her feisty spirit, humor, positive attitude and warmth. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to her five grandchildren and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with them and enjoy their company.
a
Of the many gifts she shared, Anna taught her children to embrace Canada and its many cultures and value their freedom. She modeled fearlessness and explored every facet of life: a sophisticated and spirited woman who did her best for her family, she taught her children myriad lessons and encouraged them to develop their sense of curiosity. Anna was intrepid and courageous, never shying away from a challenge or passing up an opportunity to live life to its fullest every day. Anna lived her last years spreading love to everyone and building friendships to the very end.
