Anne Ward

March 14, 1933 — November 4, 2024

Markham

Anne Ward passed away in her 91st year on November 4, 2024. She is predeceased by her husband George and leaves behind her 2 children Janis (Dave) and Geordie (Penny), her grandchildren Adam, Carolynn, Meaghan (Chris), Jessica (Phil) and Kathryn and her great grandchild Fionn.

Throughout her life, Anne demonstrated an unshakeable determination. If there was something she wanted to achieve there would be no stopping her. With this, she developed many talents.

She was a remarkable painter both on canvas and on china. She was a talented seamstress and with her mother ran a successful embroidering business. For many years she was in charge of costumes for an annual charity show that required dozens and dozens of diverse outfits, all of which were handmade. Singing was one of her great joys and she offered her lovely voice to many choirs including The Group of Eight, The Joyful Sounds and The Yorkminstrels. She knit, crocheted, baked and made jewelry. Over the years there were many of her creations that were sold for charity like the angel made out of a hymnary and the doorstopper mice decked out in their Sunday best. Anne was never idle.

One of her great regrets was that she was not financially able to continue with her education past high school. That did not stop her from learning how to manage a computer and enjoying a successful career in HR with Glaxo and Cintas. She was a member of the Rebekha Lodge and held many offices including a term as Grand Matriarch.

Through all her activities Anne made many long-lasting friendships. She was very loving and caring and always reached out when there was someone in need. She would be the first to offer love and support and the last to ever want anything in return.

We will always love her.

The family is very grateful of the staff at Sunrise for their love and care of Anne over this last year.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday November 20th at 1:30 pm. Light refreshments to follow.
