Anne Jeanette Winton

November 15, 1942 — February 27, 2023

Anne Jeannette Winton saw the sun rise Feb. 27 before taking her last breath at RVH. Fighting with the strength of 10 bears, the five-foot dynamo survived multiple strokes, asthma and arthritis over the past several years. Her closest family members were by her side on her last full day. Anne was born Nov. 15, 1942 in Barrie to World War II veteran Art Gable and Marie Carley, daughter of Cliff and Alice Carley, of Carley Boats. She moved to Toronto and became a real estate agent. She specialized in new homes and won multiple awards for outstanding sales. She met sculptor John Porretta and the two moved to Barrie. The social butterfly and gourmet cook enjoyed hosting parties for friends and family at her stylish home on Owen Street. Every-one gathered at their home and patio because that was where the fun was. Anne moved into the Owen Hill Care Centre in 2018. Anne, predeceased by her brother John in January, leaves behind three sisters, June Allan Gibson, Carmen Vair, Margaret Gable; two daughters, Gisele Winton Sarvis and Vanessa Winton; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many friends. The family would like to thank all the staff at Owen Hill for their excellent care and companionship. We would also like to thank the staff at RVH for compassionate end-of-life care. A celebration of life will be held in Barrie soon
