An interior architect, artist and teacher Tony Cresswell-Jones was born and educated in London, England. He received his formal art education at St. Martin's School of Art, and Kingston College of Art in London, England and qualified as an interior architect and designer at the London School of Building. His early career was as an exhibition designer developing major exhibits in many London shows.
In 1954 Tony immigrated to Canada where, working for the well known Frank Sherwood design firm in Toronto, he pursued a career designing malls and stores in Canada and the USA and major trade exhibits for numerous large companies. As an architectural designer Tony was privileged to combine his talents in both design and art and was well known for the impressive presentation illustrations of his own design proposals.
In 1966 Tony accepted the "once in a lifetime" opportunity to work on the planning and design for Montreal's "Expo 67" which marked the 100th anniversary of Canada's Confederation. In this capacity he was involved in designing the major exhibits for the governments of the three Western Provinces.
Following his "Expo 67" experience Tony taught two and three dimensional design, photography for artists and figure drawing at Toronto's Central Technical School. He enjoyed three years there before moving to Barrie's Georgian College to teach interior design and later to Humber College in Toronto. In 1975 Tony was invited to teach similar subjects at Algonquin College in Ottawa. During his time in Ottawa he maintained an interior architectural practice as Cresswell-Jones and Associates designing many restaurants in the Ottawa and Montreal areas and working as a consultant for a number of major building firms.
After successful careers in designing and teaching Tony retired in 1993. He then increased his focus on painting as an artist, showing his works in galleries and exhibitions and selling his paintings to collectors in Canada, the USA, UK, Europe, Australia and Japan.
