Apostolos (Paul) Galanis, 84, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Scarborough General Hospital.
Born April 17, 1933 in the small village of Amygdali, Greece (current population 61), to Athanasios and Evangelia Galanis, Apostolos immigrated to Canada in July 1970. He soon married his love Angeliki Kyriacou in Toronto, November of the same year. Survived by his wife, they recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.
Apostolos is survived by his three children, Athanasios (Tom), born 10.10.71, Evangelia (Lisa), born 9.23.74 and Petros (Peter), born 8.27.76. This loving father taught his family the meaning of hardwork; Apostolos was a dedicated employee of the Sutton Place Hotel for 33 years.
Grandfather to Matthew and Hailey (Tom and Linda), Stavroulla, Angelo, Michael and Katarina (Lisa and John) and Great Grandfather to Savannah (Matthew and Delaney). Apostolos was a kind soul loved dearly by each of them.
Apostolos was pre-deceased by both parents and brothers Yianni, Dimitrios (Mitchos), Yiorgos and Nikos. He is survived by his sister Frideriki (Freda) but pre-deceased by her husband Apostolos (Paul) Karageorgos, with whom he shared a very dear friendship.
Apostolos had a great love of sports and could always be found in front of the television cheering on his favourite teams while playing solitaire or scratching lottery tickets. Always in charge of the BBQ spit at Easter, spinning the lamb with one hand enjoying a Crown Royal in the other. We are all blessed with memories of this dear man.
Visitation to be held at St. John's Greek Orthodox Church 1385 Warden Ave. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 5pm - 9pm.
