Arthur Brown Andersen passed away on September 25, 2023 4:30 am EST at the age of 79.
Arthur, lovingly referred to as Popsie by sons Arthur and Ashton and some close family and friends, was born November 8,1943 in Montevideo, Uruguay. Leaving South America and those he knew and loved, he came to Canada in the early 1980’s. He faced many challenges being new to Canada and speaking limited English. He worked hard on his language skills to become proficient in English and pursued his education to successfully become an RPN and rebuild his life in Toronto.
Over the years Arthur interacted with many people in various environments, supporting the community, helping the vulnerable and so much more. Although a reserved man there was a depth of intelligence, warmth, kindness and love that was well known to those who knew him well. To those he allowed to see the real authentic human he was; knew him to be strong minded, caring, fiercely protective of those he loved, emotional, independant, determined and supportive. Arthur Sr. also loved music, playing the bongos and sharing this gift with everyone every chance he had which brought immense joy to him. In the last 4 to 5 years of his life Arthur was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease which affected his memory and his fine motor skills. Yet his love of music continued as he could still play the bongo drums with amazing rhythm which always brought a wonderful smile to his face.
He will be missed greatly by family and friends here in Canada and in South America but will live in our memories forever as the years come and go.
A graveside service will be held for Arthur at 10am on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023, at Westminster Cemetery (5830 Bathurst St, North York, ON M2R 1Y6).
