It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Athanasios (Tom) Alexopoulos, on Thursday, May 30, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 5 1947, in Lefkasion, Kalavryta, Greece.
Athansios immigrated to Canada in 1963 at the age of 16 with his parents in search for a better life. Shortly after arriving, he met Evanthia. After a brief courtship, they married in 1968 and together they had two sons. Athanasios leaves behind his beloved wife Evanthia of 56 years, proud father of Bill (Jeany), Jimmy (Lisa) and his cherished grandchildren: Athan, Evan, Raphael, and Eva. He was a devoted brother to the late Maria, George, and Eirini, and leaves behind his sisters Vasiliki and Eftelpi.
Family was the cornerstone of Athanasios’s life. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of life and had many stories to tell his grandchildren. Athanasios took pride in representing Greek culture and traditions. He would take part annually in the Greek Independence Parade alongside his brother George and his brother-in-law Vlassi as well as his fellow Kalavritanous.
Athanasios was an honourable man who began working from a young age, dedicating himself to providing for his family. He started working in the hospitality business and with his ease of holding conversations he became a bartender. His charming personality made everyone laugh and feel special.
Words cannot express how deeply he will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
May his memory be eternal.
