On Wednesday June 5, 6 days into her 71st year, Audrey passed peacefully into the Spirit World surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She will live on in the memories of her sons, Johnny and Timothy, her daughters Sharon and Anita, her grandchildren Alexandria, Matthew, Serene, Sienna and Tehya, her husband of 22 years, Leslie Roy and so many other family members throughout Manitoba.
She joins in the Spirit World her beloved grandson Neebin, her niece Kimberly, Parents Kathleen and Harry as well as her siblings Neilson, Eugene, Doris and Cecile.
Audrey never did anything halfway. She was an avid gardener having won several awards for the way she beautified her surroundings. A self-taught musician on several instruments, she instilled a true love of music in all her immediate family and when she took up running, it was marathons she took the most pleasure in. At Christmas, her favourite time of the year, she went all out as well turning her home into a festive wonderland. She slowed down in recent years but when we were young she’d start working on her Christmas cake and cookies months ahead of time.
She loved taking in the beauty in the world around her and enjoyed car rides until the last days that she was with us. We will miss hearing your voice and giving those looks that only you could, but we know that you are here with us and we look forward to the day that we will all be reunited.
Special thanks to the staff on the second floor of the St. Vincent Hospital who saw to it that mom received the best care possible, just as she did for so many years, during her own nursing career.
We love you so very much. A gathering of remembrance will take place at Vincent Massey Park on June 23 at 2PM.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation in Audrey’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
