Austen Sandy Laidlaw May 14, 1958 - Jan 16, 2021 We are sad beyond what words can express to announce the passing of our brother/uncle/friend, Sandy at the age of 62 at RVH Barrie. Sandy has passed peacefully with his family by his side after an 8-month illness, a rare and aggressive form of leukemia. Sandy is survived by loving sisters, Sheena McIntyre and Doreen Bezzo; nieces and nephews Kym Hurst, Rob McIntyre (Michelle), Kirsty Veuleman, Dave McIntyre; great-nieces and nephews Cody, Dryden, and Dunning Hurst, Jacob, Skye, and Zoey McIntyre and Mackenzie Veuleman. Sandy also leaves behind his dearest cousin and friend, Kirsty Pierce, and her son Alex and great friend, Matt Poole. Sandy was predeceased by his parents Helen and Bruce, brother Ian, and brother-in-law Elson Bezzo. Sandy worked in the hospitality industry all his life starting at the early age of 14 as a busboy in a hotel in Ottawa. He was a great lover of nature; music of all genres; art; reading historical, biographical, poetry, and other books. Sandy had a way with words, he excelled at creative writing, especially poetry. He was a great hockey fan and was himself a very good hockey player. Photography was also a great joy of his. He loved to take his camera heading out to travel country roads in all kinds of weather to take photos of nature, wild animals, horses, old barns, and just about anything that caught his eye, every photo became a great shot! Sandy travelled extensively throughout Canada and the USA as well as Europe. He visited famous art galleries during his travels. Although born in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, he lived in many areas, east to west, in Canada, as well as Germany and England. Sandy had a special bond with his nephew Dave, especially during the last few weeks. We will forever love you Sandy, holding you in our hearts and will miss you dearly..
