It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Lynne Coote (nee Ross) announces her passing on 17th May 2024, at the age of 72. Lynne was born July 19th,1951 in Lachine in Montreal to the late Flora and John (Jack) Ross. Sister to Shelley Criger (nee Robson) & Don, sons Sean & Jason and family, Bobbie Lucas, daughters Lisa & Marcella and their families, and brother Barrie Robson & Nancy, daughters Kathleen & Karen and their families. Predeceased by her mother in December 2007, her father in July 1958, stepfather James Robson in 1972, and sister Janice Dewinter in 2004. Her in laws are in the UK, Mother-in-law Margaret, brother-in-law Kelvin & Helen and their families, predeceased by father-in-law Albert and sister-in-law Gaynor.

Lynne moved to Mississauga in 1980 to continue her secretarial and administration career. Initially through an agency and eventually finding work at GEC (General Electric of England). She continued with this company through over 25 years of employment, rising through the ranks to become assistant to the VP of Finance and retire in 2007 to help care for her mum who relocated to Mississauga.

Lynne is an aunt to her Canadian nephews Jason (Meredith) and Sean and English nephews Owain (Emily), Peter (Josie) and niece in Melbourne Australia, Phillipa.

In 1982 her husband Roger Coote transferred from the UK to work in Canada. Lynne started as an agency temporary secretary shortly after. She had been living with her sister Shelley and her mum Flora in Guelph and working for the school board and then Lynne moved to Mississauga looking for new opportunities. We met and the rest is history as they say, they were engaged on Feb 14th, 1983, and married in December 1984 and they then moved temporarily to the UK for 1985, then returning and staying in Canada 1986 to present.

Lynne loved animals, having lived on a farm in St Marys in her earlier years and loved travelling as her parents moved across Canada to different towns and cities for her father’s work. and then together over the last 40 years they were truly fortunate to have visited over 28 countries and islands all over the world.

Lynne’s family lived across Canada during her younger years, finally settling in Guelph. From her farm years Lynne grew up to love and care for farm animals and pets of all shapes and sizes. Latterly she collaborated with Chow rescue and adopted three different chows over the years. Lynne loved music of all types and joined the Sweet Adelines acapella organization with her mum and friends and participated in competition all over N America.

Lynne was diagnosed early in 2023 and battled for a year to no avail. Many, many thanks to all the home nurses, PSWs and staff for taking care of Lynne through the last year. Special thanks to all the staff, nurses and PSWs at Trillium Hospital sites - Sherway (Q Site), Mississauga (M Site) and Credit Valley (C site) for all the courtesy and care over the last year.
