Barbara Duiker

April 26, 1935 — March 5, 2021

DUIKER, Barbara (née Botje Boeijenga) – Our hearts ache to tell you that our dearest Mom is gone. She left this life suddenly but peacefully in her sleep at home in Barrie on Friday, March 5, 2021 in her 86th year. Beloved wife of the late Jack. Cherished mother of Suzanne & Dirk (Richard) Kroon of Guelph, Rick & Darlene, Marcel & Frances, and Peter & Karen all of Barrie. Loving and adored Beppe to 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Deeply mourned by sister & best friend, Janet Dykstra of Kingston, intrepid fellow adventurer Bettina Wynia, dear siblings Everett (Carla) Boeyenga of Barrie, Gertie (Neil) Minnema of Kingston, Grace (John) DeJong of Guelph, and Ann (David) Williams of Enderby, B.C. Predeceased by beloved brothers Joey and Jim. Her many nieces and nephews will miss their amazing "Aunty Barb", and numerous friends in Barrie and elsewhere are grieved by this sudden loss. Barb was a real 'people person,' full of life, practical wisdom and good cheer. Always quick to pitch in and help out, she freely gave without thought of return. Engaged and engaging, she lit up any room she entered. We are bereft, but thank God for lending her to us for so long. Visitation will be held at First Christian Reformed Church (33 Shirley Avenue, Barrie) on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.  A private family funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., which will also be live-streamed via the church's website ( https://www.firstcrcbarrie.com/ ) and recorded for later viewing at https://www.youtube.com/c/FirstCRCBarrie/videos . Spring interment Barrie Union Cemetery and outdoor remembrance planned for June. Please note that due to public health directives, a limited amount of people will be allowed into the church at a time. Friends are asked to visit the funeral home website to reserve their place at the visitation or call the funeral home at 705-722-6656 for assistance. Please do not gather in the church parking lot.
