Barbara MacWhirter

Barbara will be forever in the thoughts and memories of her children: Kim (deceased 2011), Lynn (George Dickson), and Dawn; and grandchildren Alex Dickson, Kate Doherty (Chris), and Jacob MacWhirter.

She will also be missed by her brothers Bruce and Harlow Fox (predeceased by Dennis and Grant) as well as many Fox and Erickson cousins.

She was born in Killam, Alberta to Alfred and Esther (nee Erickson) Fox. She was raised there by her grandparents Samuel and Klara Erickson.

After high school, Barbara joined the RCAF and moved to the east coast where she met her husband Barrie MacWhirter (divorced). They moved to Calgary in 1967 where she found work at CFCN. She continued her career in television production at CJOH when the family moved to Ottawa. She also lived in Durham, NC; Chilliwack; and Shawnigan Lake before moving back to Ottawa.

She was a proud member, including as president, of the Royal Canadian Legion in Stittsville. She enjoyed playing golf, darts and watching hockey games and was a season ticket holder (Senators and Hurricanes). She also greatly enjoyed her British crime shows.
