Barbara Lenore Sauder ( nee Trewartha ) age 79 of St. Catharines, passed away on Feb. 10, 2014 after a brief illness, surrounded by her family at the NHS Hospital in St. Catharines.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents Irvin and Evelyn Trewartha of Seaforth, ON. and her brother Ron Trewartha of Quebec City, Que. She will be deeply missed by her children Brenda Sauder (JC) of St. Catharines, Gary Sauder Sr. of Huron Park, and Sherry Ohlsson (Jorgen) of St. Catharines. Grandchildren Gary Sauder Jr. (Elise) of London, Colin Sauder (Kellye) of Lucan, Amy Sauder ( Matt) of London, Jon Ohlsson of London and Brianna Ohlsson of St. Catharines. Barbara is also survived by her pride and joy and only great grandchild Ava Sauder. She will be extremely missed by her pets Ben Harvey & Albert.
Barb had a circle of great friends from the Huron Park / Exeter area of which she will be remembered most fondly by her best friends Joan and Chris.
Barbara was raised in the small farming community of Seaforth, ON., where she enjoyed life on the farm, and where she participated in the 4H Club and went to school. While living in Huron Park and raising her 3 children, Barbara would love to bowl and was actively involved in local sports playing baseball, coaching hockey and going to every game that her children and grandchildren ever participated in.
If you knew Barb, you knew that she was an avid sports fan. Sports was on the television 24/7 with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays as her favourite teams, their ratings will certainly drop, as she never missed a games and she was not shy in her distaste for bad calls by verbally letting the TV set know. The past 7 years she resided in Niagara with her daughter Sherry and husband Jorgen who were her primary caregivers in her later years.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life by her family was held privately in the home of her daughter Sherry. Barbara’s ashes will be taken to her hometown of Seaforth where her parents are buried and a place she loved so fondly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Barbara to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Wellness Niagara would be appreciated by the family.
