Barry Dowdall

Barry Terrence Dowdall, an electrical technician at Expertech Network Installations Inc. for over the last 40 years and long time Toronto resident, passed away unexpectedly on March 29, 2021 at the age of 68 in the ICU at the Humber River Hospital.

Barry is survived by his sister, Linda Ives and her son, Lee and daughter, Gemma; long-term partner, Lisa Edwards and their daughters, Raven Edwards-Dowdall and Kayanh Nguyen. Barry is predeceased by his parents Owen and Betty Dowdall.

Barry was born in York, Ontario on November 5, 1952 but moved with his family to England at a young age and settled in the county of Cambridgeshire in the village of Histon. He later went on to study Telecommunication Technician at Aylesbury College of Further Education which he graduated from in 1970.

In his early 20’s, Barry moved back to Toronto, Canada where he started his long-time stint at Expertech where he would work for the next 40 + years before retiring this past January.

He met Lisa in 1999 and they welcomed their daughter Raven in 2000. In 2013, they expanded their family when they adopted daughter, Kayanh.

Barry was an amazing, very present and hands on devoted father to both his girls.

He was an avid soccer lover and supported the English Premier team, the Tottenham Hot Spurs. Barry enjoyed spending time with family especially during the holidays. His favorite pastime was spending countless hours on the sidelines cheering on Raven who also shared his love for soccer.

He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all those who had the pleasure of meeting him and hearing one of his many stories.

A private funeral service will take place. Pastor Marcus Martinez will officiate the service on behalf of the family. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home by 4pm on April 8 at 2408 Haines Rd., Unit 2, Mississauga, ON L4Y 1Y6.
