Barry Charles Hickey

August 1, 1958 — February 11, 2022

In Memory of Barry Charles Hickey who passed away on February 11th 2022 at the age of 63.

Predeceased by his wonderful parents Raymond & Ruby Hickey.

Beloved brother to Carla, Lori, Julie, Joanne and Jamie. Wonderful Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Barry was born in Sudbury Ontario on August 1st 1958 and at an early age moved to Toronto where he spent the majority of his life.

In his younger years he was a great rugby player, loved anything Sci Fi and enjoyed collecting stamps from around the world.

Some of our favorite memories of Barry involved playing family board and card games on the weekends.

Barry was an avid sports fan, hockey of course being his favorite. In the last few years he loved the on-line sport pools and would spend hours ensuring he could beat his competition.

A quiet, intelligent man who approached life in a gentle manner, to many he was a man of few words.

But to those who really knew him, you would uncover his quirky sometimes inappropriate sense of humor and extremely big heart.

His life centered around his family, especially Mom, Dad, and Lori. They shared such a special bond of care for each other that was full of love and joy.

Their time spent watching all sports together, especially the Olympics and curling was a favorite of Barry's time with them.

He always made sure Mom had her scratch tickets and Dad was never without his Tim Hortons coffee and donuts.

Barry was a protector and guardian to our sister Julie and brought her so much friendship and care that will stay in her heart forever.

Barry leaves the most amazing earth angel in his sister Lori. Her life has been that of a faithful servant who cares deeply for family and has dedicated her life to their comfort and care.

Our family is eternally grateful for all that she does with an open pure heart.

Rest in peace “Sonny”

Please let all the angels up there know we miss them dearly.

A very special thank you and appreciation to all the wonderful caregivers and volunteers at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice who lovingly cared for Barry during his last weeks of life.

His complicated condition was treated with the utmost professionalism and compassion.

This is a truly special place to experience as one lives out their last days on earth with compassion, kindness and genuine hearts.

Cremation has taken place, a celebration of life to take place at a later date.
