Basilia Chow Bello (Mama G)
June 14, 1940 – March 28, 2022
It is with profound sadness and an abundance of grief that the Chow Family announces the peaceful passing of Basilia (Mama G) on Monday, March 28, 2022 in Pickering, Ontario.
Basilia was a loving soul with a big heart who devoted her life to her children. The second youngest of five children. She took on the role of helping raise many nieces and nephews and touched many hearts.
Basilia was born and raised in rural Mexico (Papantla ,Veracruz) where she later went on to meet and marry the love of her life, Leonardo. Together, raising their family over two countries Mexico & Canada, the family slowly immigrated to Toronto-Greek Town on the Danforth. She raised 6 children, embraced 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Basilia. She loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. An avid cook, chef and eternally unaccredited Mexican food critic. She enjoyed evenings playing solitaire, working on word searches, Tetris and playing Loteria with her family.
We will miss your laugh, your smile, your love for Vicente Fernandez, your stubbornness, your shy extrovert personality, your humor, your pranks and amazing Tamales, but most of all we will miss your presence in our lives. May you live on in our hearts forever.
