Berta Walton

Passed away with her daughters at her side at Extendicare Long Term Facility in Hamilton on June 21, 2013. Her last two weeks were spent with constant visits and being pampered by her family and staff of Extendicare which she thoroughly enjoyed. Wife of the late Leonard Walton (1983), the late Andrew Keith (1992), and good friend to the late Floyd Day (2005). Mother of Edna Laming (Derek) and Edeana Petrossi (Peter). Grandmother to Jennifer Currie (Mark), Jef Petrossi (Rosemary), Wayne, Larry and Christy Shapley. Great-grandmother to Matthew, Jack and Sam Currie, Morgan and Ryan Petrossi, Naomi Laming, Sophia and Jacqueline Arrigo.
During her last two weeks she thoroughly enjoyed constant visits and pampering by her family and the wonderful staff of Extendicare. Described as a “firecracker”, she had an opinion on everything and it was that fierce fighting spirit that kept her going so long.
She loved politics and was on many civic committees over the years, the last being on the Board of DARTS. She worked on many civic election campaigns as well as for the Progressive Conservative Party. She was very active and outgoing throughout her life. She enjoyed attending progressive euchre parties, sewing and baking for her family in her younger years and painting in her final years.
Special thanks to the caring nursing, recreation, dietary, housekeeping and laundry staff of Extendicare, Dr Potter and Dr Tuttle.
