Betty passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by love on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of Bob, her soulmate and sweetheart of 75 years. Loving mother of Beverly (Rod), Janis (Jeff), and Bobby (Joan). Dear grandmother of Rachael, Adam, Tamara and Amy, and her many great-grandchildren. Betty Amy Watson (née Ellis) was born and raised in Galt (Cambridge) where she met Bob (Robert William Watson), her high school sweetheart. They got married in the fall of 1952, just a few months after she had graduated from Brantford General Hospital School of Nursing. During the early years of their marriage, Betty worked as an RN in obstetrics while Bob finished teacher’s college. In 1960, they put down roots in Barrie after Bob took a job at North Collegiate. Betty was a wonderful, loving woman, who always put family first. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and spent many happy hours volunteering her time in countless ways. She forged lifelong friendships with the ladies of her Bridge group, hosting and attending regular get-togethers with them for many decades. Betty enjoyed gardening with Bob, baking, reading, and finding the good in everything and everyone. Betty loved her life with Bob, and she was always kind, caring and quick to laugh. Her warmth and love touched the lives of everyone around her. She will be sorely missed. A private family service was held on January 29th, with an interment to follow in the spring at Barrie Union Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations to Stroud Presbyterian Church or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
