Peacefully, at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the age of 85. Predeceased by beloved husband Major Louis Ashley and dear son-in-law Patrick Cardy. Loving mother to Janet Cardy (Marc-Philippe Laurin) and devoted grandmother to Jonathan and Michael.
Beverly was born and raised in Wynyard, Saskatchewan. She worked in Saskatchewan as an elementary teacher in the early 1950s and then ventured overseas to teach for the Canadian Armed Forces in Soest, Germany. Beverly traveled widely across Europe before marrying in 1963 and settling in Ottawa in 1964.
She returned to teaching in the 1970s, and spent the majority of her career working with special needs students at Crystal Bay School, during which time she also completed her bachelors degree.
Beverly had a tenacious and determined nature, a quick sense of humour, an affection for animals (especially cats) and a love of music.
Funeral service will be held at St. Patrick’s Parish Fallowfield (15 Steeple Hill Crescent) on Friday November 1st at 11AM. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Chartwell Kanata, Stillwater Creek, Garden Terrace and the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their care and attention.
