Bintoro “Ben” Ruslim (1940-2024)

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bintoro “Ben” Ruslim on Good Friday, March 29, 2024. At the age of 83, surrounded by his family in Etobicoke, Ontario, Ben's battle with lymphoma came to a peaceful end. Born to Liem Kong Hwie and Juliet Tan in Magelang, Indonesia, on October 19, 1940, Ben's journey from his birthplace to becoming a cherished member of the Canadian community is a testament to his resilience, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones.

Ben’s life story is one of love, hard work, and dedication. As a respected Chartered Professional Accountant and Certified Management Accountant, he devoted over three decades to his career at Morguard Investments Limited, marking a legacy of professionalism and integrity. Retirement in 2005 did not slow Ben down; it simply gave him more time to pursue his passions and be with his family.

An avid reader, Ben also found solace and joy in gardening and traveling the world. However, his greatest joy was his family, to whom he was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and love. Ben’s legacy as a beloved husband, a fantastic father, and a doting grandfather will forever be cherished and remembered.

Ben leaves behind a loving family: his wife and soulmate, Ien; his sons Reagan (Linda Hatch), Ronald, and Esmond (Julie Hug); and his granddaughter, Mackenzie. Each of them reflects a part of Ben’s spirit, continuing his legacy of love, warmth, and kindness.

A memorial service to celebrate Ben’s life will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at:
St John's Dixie Cemetery & Crematorium
737 Dundas St East

Mississauga, ON, L4Y 2B5
The day will begin with a visitation from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by a ceremony from 12 to 1 pm.
A small, family-only reception will take place afterwards at a separate location.

Parking is available on-site at the church's parking lot and the chapel facility is a short distance walk north-west of the church. For those unable to attend in person, a live broadcast will be available at: https://stjohnsdixie.com/cemetery/live-memorial/

In remembrance of Ben’s generous spirit, the family suggests memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Contributions can be made via their website: https://donate.supportstjoes.ca/site/Donation2?3422.donation=form1&df_id=3422&mfc_pref=T

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Patricia Wong, Dr. Christine Kim, and all the staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre for their compassionate care during Ben’s final days.

Ben's profound legacy of love, wisdom, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though he has passed, his spirit remains a guiding light for his family and friends.

We love you, Papa!
