After a lengthy illness, Blair Thurston of Brighton, ON passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023 at the age of 67. Blair was born on August 15, 1955 to Marg and Ernie Thurston in Toronto, Ontario. He worked for Canada Post and retired in 2011. In retirement Blair enjoyed spending time with his grandkids taking them to local events and camping trips. He also loved playing with them at his home in the backyard pool, his grand dog Leo was always a welcomed and well loved buddy. Blair travelled with his wife to Disney, Hawaii and many resorts and camping spots over the years and passed the time playing Backgammon, Scrabble and Yahtzee. He took guitar lessons and often went for walks around Presqu’ile Provincial Park. He was predeceased by his brother David Thurston and parents Marg and Ernie Thurston.
Blair will be missed, always and forever loved by his wife Mary after 47 years of marriage.
He was very proud of both his sons James (Samantha) and William (Tana) Thurston and the grandchildren Julia, Liam, Elena and Clark were his life and he loved them dearly. ‘Blair never said No to them, better ask grandpa’. He is lovingly missed by his sister Sharon (Don) Owens and brother Stephen Thurston. Sister In-law Deb Thurston, nephews Jon (Julie) Thurston, and Matt (Molly) Thurston and their families.
The family sends thanks to the staff of Trenton, Belleville, Peterborough and Kingston Hospitals and special thanks to the care and compassion provided by the staff of Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 9th from 3-5pm at McLean Community Centre at 95 Magill Drive, Ajax, ON. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice, Cobourg, ON.
