Brian, beloved husband of the late Margaret for 65 years, loving father of Mary-Elaine (predeceased) and Ian (Denise), passed away peacefully on Thursday January 16, 2025, in Oshawa, Ontario. Dear brother to Colin, Hazel, Mary, predeceased Christine, Sheila, and Eileen. Brian will be missed and fondly remembered by many friends as well as extended family in England and Pembroke.
Brian, born in England on February 18, 1938, immigrated to Canada in 1967 with Margaret and his children. They enjoyed their life in St Catharines, Owen Sound, Calgary, Sudbury, Burlington and finally settling in Pembroke for the past 24 years. After the passing of Margaret, he moved in with his son and daughter-in-law, Ian, and Denise where they enjoyed his company and life stories, and Brian experienced “the city life” of Oshawa for the past few months.
Brian’s career began in England as a draftsman, and he became a mechanical engineer working in Owen Sound, Sudbury, and Burlington. After moving to Pembroke, Brian enjoyed working at BTI in Chalk River before his retirement. He liked to stay busy, and Brian could often be found in his workshop, completing projects for Margaret and her volunteering efforts. Brian would always offer a helping hand and assisted in the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance in Biloxi Mississippi in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Brian loved to fish and was an avid camper with his family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeridge Hospital for their care and compassion and Reverand James Kim of the Petawawa Presbyterian Church for his prayers and support.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
