It is with heavy hearts, filled with love and fond memories, that we share the news of Brian Donald Edmund "Mac" McLean's passing. Brian passed peacefully at his home at the age of 66, with his wife Laura by his side.
Brian is survived by his wife Laura Lessif, siblings Patrick (Joy), Donna (Bob), Brenda (Mike), along with his nieces and nephews Mitchell (Alli), Brian (Britt), Natalie (Mark), Robert, Danny and Valerie. Great nephews and nieces Derek, Andrew, Christopher, Finn, Cain, Olivia and Sophia. Brian spoke often of how blessed he was to have so many wonderful caregivers through the years and for the special bond he formed with his full-time caregivers, Trojan and Veronica Subala.
Brian took great pride in the meaningful work he accomplished while undergoing rehabilitation at Lyndhurst Hospital following his injury. Partnering with Bonnie Smith, he played a pivotal role in establishing a peer mentorship program designed to support patients as they transitioned out of the hospital and returned to their daily routines. This program, created with Brian's dedication and vision, provided individuals, like himself, with valuable tools to enrich their lives. It has had a profound and lasting impact on countless people and continues to thrive today.
Brian's legacy is one of kindness, strength and unwavering commitment to helping those in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the lives of those he touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Spinal Research Organization.
Brian's Life will be celebrated in Midland, Ontario, with close friends and family at a future date.
