Peacefully on October 19, 2022 Monica Elaine Campbell’s loving spouse, soulmate and best friend died in her loving presence at his bedside from complications due to a lengthy illness with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born and raised in Ottawa. Predeceased by parents Eliane Josephine Poisson of Bryson, Quebec and Charles George Hammonds of London, England. Survived by Aunt Sylvia Hodgson of Quebec, cousin Barbara Paquette of Ottawa and several other cousins from far. Also leaves to cherish his memory are many dear and supportive friends especially, his college friend in commercial arts, John Senkalowski. Brian and John were steadfast brothers and kept in very close touch over the years.
Brian’s humour; quick wittedness, hearty laughter and quiet, compassionate nature will be dearly missed. Also missed greatly will be his sharing of many stories based on his wealth of life experiences.
Brian enjoyed hanging out with Tom Marr, a long time guitar playing sidekick and fishing friend. He was also very fond of cycling and had a great love of cars especially, fast ones. By the influence of Monica Elaine, a lifelong fan of hockey, Brian developed an interest in the sport and spent many hours with Monica Elaine watching hockey especially, the Stanley Cup series. Brian also enjoyed hanging out with his very long time friend, Michel Gaudreault and his family particularly, playing games of pool, basking at the poolside, and having BBQ’d meals.
A date and location for a private Celebration of Life will be announced as spring nears.
Heartfelt thanks to staff in both the Neurology Unit and E5 at Civic Campus of The Ottawa Hospital; in the Rehab Unit at Elisabeth Bruyere Continuing Care; at Ottawa Grace Manor; and at ER, General Campus of The Ottawa Hospital. Also, special thanks to Dr. Barbara Yeats and staff at Manotick Family Clinic, Dr. Lloyd Rossman at Ottawa Grace Manor and the palliative care team at Civic.
