BRIDGETT GARCIA

1985 - 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely and sudden passing of Bridgett, at age 36 on May 15, 2021. Bridgett is survived by her father Francisco, mother Shelley, step mom Pam, sister Ashley, step brother Mike and her family in Mexico City, Aunt Rosi and cousins Alejandra, Rosy, Hernan, Carlos, Joaquin, Juan Pablo and Ivan.

We will always remember Bridgett for being brave, courageous and strong in spite of suffering a very complex and devastating illness that prevented her from achieving many of her dreams. In spite of that Bridgett always tried to see the positive in the reduced landscape of her life. Just lately we were encouraged by her progress and outlook and thought she was on a positive path. We will work hard to ensure we turn our grief over her loss into something positive, enduring and worthwhile.

Bridgett’s life was short indeed. She has gone into the light but she is now free and will be happily looking at her beautiful daughter Bianca as she grows.

Bridgett: we all love you and will sadly miss you, but you will always be in our hearts and minds and we hope that your next journey is a peaceful one and filled with happiness and sunshine.

Bridgett leaves a huge emptiness in the hearts of all of us who loved her including her friends from Holy Cross Catholic School in Kingston and the University of Toronto. We convey our most sincere appreciation to the FOCUS Team from Saint Michael’s Hospital in Toronto who always cared and supported Bridgett to make things easier for her.

A private service will be held at a later date. In memory of Bridgett’s life, donations can be made to the Center for Addiction and Mental Health at http://www.camh.ca/bridgettgarcia . Your tribute gift to Bridgett will help shatter the huge stigma surrounding mental health and addictions and will also help those affected with an opportunity for recovery and a fulfilling life with a brighter future.
