Brigitte Brinkmann, of Stittsville, Ontario, received her promotion to Glory on March 24, 2024, to be with her Lord and Saviour Who she served for almost 80 years. She was born in Unnau, Westerwald, Germany, to Oswald and Maria Habel, the middle of 7 children. She immigrated to the US with her birth family in January 1953, and lived in Wisconsin for most of her life, before moving to Ontario in July 2009. Brigitte married Heinz in July 1953 and they diligently raised their family of six girls and four boys together: Inge, Anita, Charlotte, Mary Ann, Ruth, Dan, Tim, Lois, John and James. Brigitte traveled with Heinz to many different countries over the years, mostly after their children were grown. She always supported her husband, and their guiding verse in Acts 20:27 explains their heart's desire: "For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God." 1 Timothy 2:4 was also important to them: "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."
Brigitte received the assurance of salvation from John 5:24 early in life, and never wavered amidst the trials and tests, trusting in Him Who faithfully provided strength and joy, till her course ended. She valued her years among brethren where she learned much of her deep scriptural understanding. Brigitte was a transparent Christian who simply desired to please her Lord, and with true grace encourged many around the globe with her gentle, calm and stable personality. She was a beautiful seamstress, orderly, organized, and with quiet grace and humily, lended a listening ear. Her gentle care and careful wisdom inspired many. Her quick wit and humor was enjoyed by all.
Her son James was called to be with the Lord in 1997. Her husband was taken Home to the Lord's presence in 2010, shortly after they moved to Ontario.
Our family is indebted to Lois and Dave for so tenderly and respectfully caring for our beloved mother's every need, to the end. Brigitte had 32 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. Her faithful prayers were that all would come to know the Saviour, live their lives joyfully honoring Him, and then join her in heaven for eternity.
