It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bruce Frederick George McCarthy at the age of 69. Bruce was surrounded by family, and will be fondly remembered and forever loved. Bruce was born in Ottawa and remained a long-time resident of Richmond and area.
Bruce was predeceased by his parents Mona McCarthy (née Shaw) and Donald McCarthy and his brothers Sean, Les and Rob, nephew Joe Amyotte and niece Sarah McCarthy.
Beloved brother of Mike, Dan (Deb), the late Sean (Pam), Jim (Jen), Maureen (Johnnie) O’Connell, Tim (Christine), Bonnie (Richard) Amyotte, the late Les (Johanne), Frances (Dwayne) Krueger, Marion (Gary) Williams, the late Rob (Kim), and Terry (Lyn).
Bruce will be missed by his large extended family including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins as well as his long-time family friend Archie Opthof.
Throughout his life, Bruce was an avid reader, trivia master, hunter, sports fan and a member of the Canadian Army Reserve.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Richmond Legion, Branch 625, 6430 Ottawa Street West, Richmond Ontario on Friday, June 7 from 6 pm – 9 pm. Enter via Joy’s Side Road. Cash Bar. Those wishing to make a donation in his memory are encouraged to consider the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
