Carl Lloyd Buckland

Carl Lloyd Buckland, a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on April 15, 2024 at the Ottawa Hospital due to complications as a result of a stroke. Born to Henry and Ida Buckland on December 19, 1948, he was a true Poltimore native through and through. His life and legacy deeply interwoven with the community he grew up in and remained true to.

While growing up, Dad spent much of his time outdoors. He loved to go fishing and hunting as well as listening to the stories that the old timers shared.

Dad began working at Cheslock and Sons Constructions Ltd. and then few years later, he joined Bell Canada, where he worked as a Linesman for 20 years. After leaving Bell, he worked as a Superintendent at the Doctor’s building for another 17 years, before officially retiring. Over the years, when he wasn’t working professionally, he was either working for himself or helping others with renovation projects.

Dad wasn’t one to sit still and was always busy doing something. However, he was an avid outdoorsman first and always found time to go fishing or hunting. Many of his fishing and hunting adventures also included a small renovation project to the camp that he was going to. Not only did he have the necessary equipment packed for the adventure but he always seemed to have his truck filled with any tool possible. He always said ‘you need the right tool for the job and then some!’

Predeceased by his parents, Dad's memory is honored and kept alive by his brother Jack (Bernadette), daughter Kim, son Chris (Andrea), 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and his many friends.

We would like to thank all of the staff, nurses, doctors and paramedics who helped dad over the past few years and in his final days.  If desired, dontations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

A celebration of life will be held May 11, 2024 from 11 am – 2 pm at Cheslock’s Sugarbush in Poltimore, QC. The sugar bush is located at 224 Chem. de la Savane, Val-des-Monts, QC J8N 3B5 (www.cabaneasucrecheslock.ca).
