Carole Ann McNaughton (Sanford), 80, passed away unexpectedly on August 22nd at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington from complications of Pneumonia.
She was born February 7th 1941, in Newcastle New Brunswick, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Walsh) McNaughton.
In addition to her parents, Carole was predeceased by her brother William (Billy) McNaughton. She is survived by her daughters Jodie (Dennis) Moreau of Burlington, Ontario, Lisa Sanford of Houston Texas, her grandson Austin Sanford of Houston Texas and her dog Haylee who will be lovingly cared for by her good friends Elaine and Sean. Carole graduated in 1959 from Harkins High School in Newcastle. She was recruited by Eaton’s and moved to Moncton. She was married to Manson Sanford from 1964-1976. She subsequently worked for the Riverview Department of Parks and Recreation as Recreation Director and Day and Ross. She moved to Burlington in 2014 to be closer to her daughters. Carole was an avid sports fan. She loved her Montreal Canadians, Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and NASCAR racing. She was a long-time player and coach of the Moncton Rebels and is a member of the New Brunswick Softball Hall of Fame. Per Carole’s request, there will be no service. She will rest at Elmwood Cemetery Columbarium in Moncton at a time in the future still be to determined.
