Cecile Dawn Pengelly
Cecile Dawn Pengelly (nee Adamson), of Toronto, passed away on December 27th, 2022 at the Mississauga Hospital, sure in the knowledge that she was loved. She will be forever missed by her husband Richard, her sons Robert (Marina) and Lorne, her grandson Logan, step-grandchildren Sydney, Ashley, Aleksandr and Dmitry, and her sisters, Sharon, Nicola and Deborah. Her sister Jamel pre-deceased her in 2014. They are joined in their sadness by her many other family members and friends.
She was born in Buff Bay, Jamaica, on April 26th, 1945, to her mother Joyce Grosett, and father John Brian Adamson. She attended the Queen's School in Kingston, and worked for Jamaica Banana Producers before getting married and eventually emigrating to Canada in 1976. After settling in Toronto, she worked for Women's College Hospital in Payroll/Finance, and made many friends, until her early retirement in the year 2000. She was a devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and also enjoyed knitting blankets and clothing for the children of her friends and family over the years.
We pray that she is now reunited with all of the loved ones that she lost during her lifetime and that one day we will also be reunited with her. Once the afternoon rains have passed, we can all take some chairs to sit out on the patio and talk about old times while the sun goes down. Great food, Red Stripe and rum cocktails will surely be available to all, great music will be playing, and there won't be a croaking lizard or flying cockroach in sight.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Janine and Sarah for all of the help and friendship they gave Cecile, especially during her last few years. You were very much appreciated by her, and by all of us. Thank you.
Donate hugs and laughter to your loved ones, whenever and while you can.
