Dana Alvin Lorimer Menger was born on July 6, 1956, and departed from this world on October 2, 2024, at the age of 68. He passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital due to complications from a stroke, leaving behind a legacy enriched by his roles as a loving father, husband, friend, mentor, and leader.
Dana is survived by his beloved sons, Joel and Nigel, as well as his daughter-in-law, Kelsey. He cherished the time he spent with his granddaughter, Abby. In addition, he leaves behind his former wife, Conny, sisters Tracy and Shelley, and brother Gary.
Throughout his lifetime, Dana had a remarkable passion for life that was evident through his hobbies. He was an avid race car enthusiast, particularly enjoying driving in his Corvette, and building and painting miniature sports cars. His love of the natural world was displayed through his outdoor ponds, gardens and nurturing of various plants, with a special fondness for cacti.
Professionally, Dana made significant contributions as a Sales Manager at Snap-On Tools, a role that allowed him to connect with many individuals and establish himself as a mentor to many of his colleagues.
Dana’s impact extended far beyond family and work, as he was a registered organ donor when he passed. His generosity will allow others to benefit from the gift of a better life.
Dana’s family wants to thank the amazing care team at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, as well as the Trillium Gift of Life, Perth General Hospital, and Ornge Air Ambulance, all of whom played crucial roles during his final days.
He is remembered not only for his personal relationships but also for the love he for his canine companions, Alfie and Pandie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date, where friends and loved, ones will gather to honor and remember the significant impact Dana Menger had on their lives. His spirit and memory will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
