Darlene Marie (MacDonald) Kennedy

January 17, 1960 — August 21, 2020

Darlene Marie Kennedy (nee MacDonald), 60, passed into the loving arms of Jesus, her Savior, August 21, 2020. With her adoring husband by her side, Darlene peacefully went from sleep into eternity after a rapid battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

She was an incredible and selfless woman who loved her family with a fierceness that made each feel special and valued. Precious daughter to Bill and Eileen. Beloved wife to her sweetheart Darrell for 39 years. Loving Mother to Sheena (Richard) and Sarah (Marvin). The best, most intentional Nana to her little rays of sunshine: Olivia, Naomi, Elijah, Emilia and Adilynn who adored her. Caring sister to Debbie (Bob), David, and the late Darryl (2020).

Darlene was born in Galt, Ontario, and had fond memories of growing up with a hobby farm. Her best childhood memory was Sunday drives with her Dad, passing turkey farms and hearing them all gobble wildly at the honk of the horn.

She was a driven individual who completed her ECE while also working full-time and being a Mom. She worked in childcare for over 30 years, where she was known as DarDar. Her love for working with children was evident through her creative ideas and her outstanding care.

Darlene loved daffodils, walking with friends, ice cream, spontaneous drives with her husband, coffee, organizing, swimming with the grandkids, sewing, playing games, baking, being outdoors and quality family time. She had a zest for life. She was a tease by nature and had a contagious laugh. Most of all she loved Jesus and was a prayer warrior who spent time in the mornings alone with her Bible and praying on behalf of others.

Darlene was genuine and had a compassionate heart. In the past she volunteered at the Capital City Mission serving the homeless of Ottawa. Her kind smile and gentleness made others feel welcomed.

There are no words for how deeply Darlene will be missed by her family and friends. A beautiful soul, now fully healed, is rejoicing in the presence of her Heavenly Father. Romans 5:3-5

A sincere Thank you to the kind and compassionate staff at the Ottawa General Hospital for their exceptional care.
