Passed away at Freeport Hospital on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the age of 75. Darrell was born in Nuneaton, England and moved to Canada in 1967.
Beloved husband of Maureen for 54 years. Dear father of Lesley McCarty (John) of Cambridge, Suzanne Hubbard (John) of Miami, FL and Shelley Hackborn (Marty) of Cambridge. Cherished grandfather of John, Michael, Carly, Sarah, Eric, Daryl and Jack, and great grandfather to Robbie and Abagail. Proud brother of Peter (Sue) of New Zealand.
Darrell was a long-time employee of Budd Canada and over the years was passionately involved with the Royal Canadian Legion. In retirement, he volunteered with the YMCA and spent each Friday night in the winter supporting First United Church's "Out of the Cold" program.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Parkview Cemetery Chapel, 335 University Avenue East, Waterloo.
In Darrell's memory donations may be made to First United Church, Waterloo - "Out of the Cold" program or the Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society.
