Dave was a quiet but impactful man. No matter who you were, you were an individual in your own right to Dave. He was an extraordinary man who loved nature, particularly fishing, bird watching, walking through fields and forests and our favourite…people watching. He could repair any mechanical engine…big or small…and was often called on to do so at many a friend’s house. He was resourceful, always finding a way to get something done with the least cost possible. He could (and would) tell you how to properly screw in a light bulb, but he always found the laughter in things around him…freely sharing jokes to all who would listen. While we’d always offer a smirk of acknowledgment, or a roll of our eyes, every now and again we would actually laugh. He gave generously of his time and skills and any resource he had he freely shared with many. He was a loyal and reliable friend to those who came into his life. He was also a loving husband, father and grandfather. Dave grew up in the small town of Boverton in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales, UK. As the baby of the family he helped around the house and played in the fields. He picked up tools around age 15 and apprenticed as a mechanic, eventually becoming a heavy transport mechanic. He met the love of his life and started a family. Like many of his older siblings, he set out from Wales with the love of his life and two young boys in tow and after a last-minute change in plans, ended up in Canada. Adding another son to the mix in Canada he provided faithfully and taught and nurtured them all teaching them what skills he could so they would be well prepared for life. As a grandfather he found a new outlet to be proud, loving each grandchild without limit and continuing to share his passion for fishing and learning their passions for sport and whatever it is they got into. To Dave, his greatest achievements are his children and grandchildren. Today, Dave rests with his Saviour, sitting at the feet of Jesus.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. John 11:25-26
