It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my Husband Wayne at the Georgetown Hospital at the age of 71.
He will be greatly missed by his brother Rick, and Wayne's kids, Cameron (Erin), Ryan and Kristen, his Grandchildren, Nephews, Nieces and friends....
as well as his extended Family, Natalie, (Ron), Kaitey, Trish (Brian), Jim (Jenn), Karen (Walter).
Wayne spent his childhood in Calgary Alberta where he developed a love of playing hockey. Eventually receiving a hockey scholarship to attend Colorado Springs College. He played with some of the best players in the game, Phil Esposito, Keith Magnuson, and Bobby Baun to name few. He was eventually drafted to the Detroit Red Wings but sadly, his hockey career ended with, (as he called it), a Bobby Orr knee injury. He was so proud to see that his Grandsons were following in his footsteps playing hockey and excelling in the game.
Wayne had become an accomplished golfer and once was one of the top 100 golfers in Alberta, and even managed to teach golf.. but again, injuries prevented him to continue playing a game he thoroughly enjoyed.
Wayne was an employee of RBC for 2 plus decades and eventually transferred to the RBC in Medicine Hat, Ab. where we met and were married.
We moved to Georgetown, Ont. where we enjoyed our walks downtown in the summers for the Antique car shows, dance to the live bands, farmers markets and restaurants. He enjoyed his trips up north, playing euchre, scrabble and cribbage and his Sundays and Monday night NFL games and best of all his Superbowl "snackies" and half time shows with his Original Coors Banquet tall boy.
He was an amazing cook and taught me a lot about the art of cooking and to most of all "pay attention" to what you are doing. Cooking a meal will not be the same without you looking over my shoulder to make sure the meal is done properly.
As Garth Brooks sang, And now I'm glad I didn't know,
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could've missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance.
I'll always think of you when I hear your song.
*I will miss you terribly my CB, my heart is broken without you.
You were my rock. Love always and forever, your PB. xoxoxoxo
Rest in Peace Wayne xo
I would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the hospitals who cared for my husband. Georgetown Hospital (Dr. Yanni), Mississauga Hospital (Dr. Maran),
Milton, Oakville and Brampton Hospitals. A warm thankyou to all of the Home Care Ladies of Halton Hills. The Speech Pathologists, Speech Therapists, Physio therapists, Endoscopy surgeons. You were all so thorough and understanding.
My deepest appreciation to my Sister Karen and her Husband Walter for taking over the reins. There's a place in Heaven for you both. I couldn't have done it without you. xoxo
Thank you to my Daughter Natalie and Ron for stepping up and being there, as well as my sister Trish, Brian and my brother Jim for all of your love and support.
To all the Family and friends who's gift of beautiful flower arrangements were very much appreciated. They brightened my day.
*As per my Husbands wishes, I will be taking him back to Medicine Hat, Ab.
where a celebration of life will take place in the summer of 2022.
Specific date to be posted in the near future.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
