Diane Carol Kennedy (nee Baxter)

July 16, 1939 — November 19, 2024

Ottawa

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Diane Kennedy (nee Baxter) on Nov 19, 2024 at the age of 85. Daughter of the late Judy Simcox and Edward Baxter, Diane leaves behind her husband of 44 years, Reg, her children Kathy, Paul (Allison), Sue (Sandu) Neil (Heather), step-children Jayson (Tesia) and Kyle (Tiffany) grandchildren and friends.

As a devoted Nan to Michael,Tyler, Cory, Ally, Sarah, Ryan, Felix, Colton, Caitlynn, Carsyn, Aidan and Declan, and Great-Gramma to Theo and twin boys due in February, Diane took great pleasure spoiling her growing family with snail mail cards and hand delivered gifts.

Living her entire adult life with arthritis didn’t slow Diane down, nor did it define her. Working as a cook at L'Orée du Bois restaurant, night cashier at the Skyline Hotel, then as a medical secretary for over 25 years, she finally retired. This didn’t slow her down very much and her mantra ‘gotta keep moving’ motivated her to keep a meticulously clean, organized and beautifully decorated home. Antiquing had also been a great pleasure and she could seldom pass by an antique shop or flea market without taking a look around. In her last years she could be found in her garden, tending to her herbs and vegetables.

"Don’t believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding. Find out what you already know and you will see the way to fly" - from one of Diane's favorite books, Johnathon Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach

At her request there will not be a funeral, but a celebration of her life will take place and be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Diane Kennedy.
