On Sunday January 29th, Dianne K. Burns, aged 72 yrs. loving wife and life partner of 55yrs to John Burns and mother to Sarah (Cronin) passed away peacefully at May Court Hospice Ottawa Ontario.

Dianne was an avid reader from an early age, and developed a passion for travel, writing, and all things craft wise.

After graduating high school she attended the Ontario College of Art. Next she enrolled at the University of Guelph were she obtained an Honours degree in Art History and Political Science. After graduating from Teacher’s College she accepted an offer from the Peel Board of Education, and went on to teach there for seven years.

After leaving teaching Dianne became a full time Mom to daughter Sarah. When Sarah started school Dianne became a certified travel consultant, tax planner, and sold advertising for a local newspaper. At this time she started honing her writing skills, publishing numerous articles in craft magazines, and newspapers.

While working as office manager at a local water treatment company she set her sites on getting a novel published. After entering numerous writing competitions and winning awards she had two of her Romantic Suspense Novels published.

Never one to let the grass grow under her feet it was time to do more travelling  so Dianne joined Trust House Sitters. This organizations arranges house and pet sitting services anywhere in the world. This adventure led to Dianne creating a blog post called “twenty years from now”. Found on Google.

Always smiling and possessing a positive attitude, she would find the good in any situation. Even in Hospice care, on numerous occasions, howls of laughter would emanate from her room over something she said as nurses and attendants prepared her for bed.

There will be no formal funeral. A simple cremation, followed by an online celebration of life, at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to your local hospice would be much appreciated
