December 17, 1944 - October 27, 2018 Dr. Donald (Don) Loree Ph.D. Passed away at home following a long and determined battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be fondly and proudly remembered by Judy, his wife of 50 years, children Liz (Paul) and Eric (Robin), grandchildren Cameron, Owen, Nathan, brother Bob (Mary), sister in law Dolly (Dave), nieces Ann (Far) and Heather (Kurt) and nephew Mike (Bobby). Predeceased by parents, Doug and Jean, and brother Jackie. During his life, Don developed a passion for so many things including cycling, camping, canoeing, travelling, photography, reading, wine, art, and music. Don was influenced early by the principles of Scouting and, as a leader, inspired many with his love of the outdoors. His passion for learning and helping others led him to academia where he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Alberta. He first taught sociology at UNB and later joined the RCMP where he worked from 1980 until he retired in 2010. As Officer in Charge, Research and Evaluation Branch, Community, Contract and Aboriginal Policing Services Directorate, Don was a tireless advocate for underserviced regions and groups. Don's committee engagement with the IACP enabled him to assist in promoting community policing principles with police forces throughout North America and around the world. A celebration of Don's life will be held Sunday, November 4th , 2 - 4 pm at the WOs' & Sgts' Mess, 4 Queen Elizabeth Drive. Donations in Don's memory can be made to the Carefor respite care at the Guest House, Amnesty International, or any local food bank.
