Donna Joan (Smale) Pim

March 27, 1931 — August 18, 2020

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Joan (Smale) Pim, on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at the age of 89.  Predeceased by her husband Frederick (Ted, Fred) Pim. Survived by her children Frederick (Rick) and Darcie (Walker) and their partners Judy Russell and Barry Walker.
Born in Winnipeg, MB in 1931, Donna was a dedicated volunteer her entire life, beginning with helping polio patients with rehabilitation in the 1950s.  She excelled at curling as a player, coach and official and made many friends through the sport. She attended the first ever Curl Canada Instructors’ Clinic in 1975, officiated at the Brier in 2001 and the Scott Tournament of Hearts in 2006. She especially loved working with junior players and coached several teams to provincial and national championships.  Donna was honoured as a life member of the RA Riverside Curling Club in 2001 and received a Hall of Fame (Builder) award from the RA.  She was also active in coaching with the wheelchair curling program.
Donna also volunteered for many years in the Shepherds of Good Hope soup kitchen, reveling in the challenge of creating a meal out of the day's donations.
We'll miss you.

Much gratitude for the care and compassion of the staff of the Garry J Armstrong Long Term Care Home, Ottawa.
