In her later years, Doreen moved to Acton to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
Over her lifetime, Doreen enjoyed dancing, skiing, roller skating, gardening, golfing, and playing bridge. She was an avid reader, created beautiful handwoven textiles, and knitted hundreds of mittens for donation.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother John (at birth), her sister-in-law Lenore Ohlgren, and by her husband Steve Davitsky. She is survived by her brother Don Ohlgren (Anne) of Victoria, BC, daughter Vicki Firth (Jim) of Acton, grandchildren Nicholas and Alyssa, nieces Nancy Burt and Heather Andrews and their families, and stepdaughters Laura Nilsen and Lynda Prinzo and their families. She will be greatly missed by family and lifelong friends.
In honour of her wishes, a funeral service will not be held. A family memorial will take place at a later date.
